Renewable energy is one of the effective tools we have in the fight against climate change, and there is every reason to believe it supposed to be successful. However, in reality the growth and the implementation is slowing and emerging only as a minor contribution to mitigation especially in developing countries (cities).

Some of the challenges cities often underline that impede the implementation are too much cost, not enough output or too little emission reduction, lack of required components such as government incentives, policy support, community awareness, and cost increases, among others.

To address this issue the climate change cluster leader, Jakarta in collaboration with CityNet organised a workshop on Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Acceleration for Climate Change Mitigation on 15 December 2017. This workshop convened not only CityNet members but also central governments, professionals, academics, private sector, and NGOs to ensure the potential multistakeholder partnerships in the future.

Renewable energy is already helping us in addressing climate change. It is the time to put our efforts together and accelerate the policy implementation.
