KL Mayor Maimunah Mohd Sharif Reflects on CityNet’s Impact on Her Professional Growth

In a recent meeting between the CityNet Secretariat and Kuala Lumpur’s Mayor, Dato’ Seri TPr Dr. Maimunah Mohd Sharif, the Mayor shared a heartfelt testimony about her long-standing connection with CityNet. Her story is a shining example of how CityNet’s initiatives can foster both personal and professional growth, paving the way for new opportunities.

Thanks to CityNet’s capacity building, I had the chance to participate in UNCRD training in Japan—my first international experience—which has shaped my journey and who I am today.

Reflecting on her early career, Mayor Maimunah spoke about a pivotal moment in her journey: her participation in the UNCRD training in Nagoya, Japan, which CityNet sponsored. “Thanks to CityNet’s capacity building, I had the chance to participate in UNCRD training in Japan—my first international experience—which has shaped my journey and who I am today,” she said. Not only did this experience broaden her perspectives, but she also excelled in the program, making the cover of the UNCRD magazine at the time.
