On 27 March 2025, Mr. Jae-bok Chang, the CEO of CityNet Secretariat, paid a courtesy visit to the Embassy of Uzbekistan to meet with the Ambassador of the Republic of Uzbekistan to Korea, Mr. Alisher Abdusalomov. The primary objective of the meeting was to explore potential collaboration opportunities between CityNet and cities in Uzbekistan.

Mr. Chang expressed his gratitude to the Uzbekistan Ambassador for facilitating CityNet Secretary General, Mr. Vijay Jagannathan’s trip to Uzbekistan, where he will attend the Samarkand Climate Forum. This forum will be held on 4-5 April, in Samarkand, Uzbekistan, addressing the theme “Central Asia facing global climate challenges – consolidation for common prosperity”.

During the discussion, the Ambassador emphasised Uzbekistan’s strong interest in urban development issues and expressed a desire to explore CityNet’s Capacity Building Programme as a potential avenue for collaboration. Mr. Chang, in turn, underscored CityNet’s eagerness to support Uzbekistan’s cities in their development goals.

Marking the first embassy visit of 2025, CityNet looks forward to fostering international cooperation in the Central Asia region.
