CityNet Visits Colombo in Preparation of the 2017 Congress

 

In preparation of the 2017 CityNet Congress, the delegation from CityNet Secretariat that consisted of the CityNet Assistant Secretary General, Director of Programs, Director of Operations, Senior Program Officer, and Congress Coordinator visited Colombo, Sri Lanka, from 12-15 August to ensure the smooth execution of this quadrennial event on 5-8 November.

CityNet Secretariat works very closely with the Colombo Municipal Council as the host city, coordinated by the Deputy Municipal Commissioner Thamara Mallawaarachchi – the long time CityNet supporter. The preparatory activities include ocular venue inspection, logistic preparation, meeting with CMC Commissioner V. K. A. Anura and Heads of Departments / Directors of Engineering of the City of Colombo who are coordinating the Congress preparation together with the CityNet Secretariat.

Commissioners and Deputy Commissioners of Sri Lanka’s member cities – Dehiwala/ Mt. Lavinia, Galle, Negombo, Kandy, Sri Jayawardanapura Kotte – and heads of Associate Members – SEVANATHA, Help-O, Galle Development Foundation, Management Resources for Good Governance – offered their full support for the Congress during a meeting that was organized by the CMC.

The CityNet Congress will be held at the Hilton Hotel and will consist of three legislative meetings, parallel sessions conducted by distinguished CityNet international partners, plenary session, mayors forum, official dinners, city tour, and site visits.
