International Team-up with CityNet National Chapter India Kicked Off to a Good Start

As reported by Housing and Urban Development Corporation Limited – Human Settlement Management Institute (HUDCO-HSMI), in its recently concluded international training programme on ‘Climate Change and Cities-Way Forward for Adaptation, Mitigation, and Resilience’ on October 21-25, 2010, CityNet National Chapter India’s first international partnership with CityNet Secretariat is a success.

The CityNet Secretariat contributed to the training by screening participants and supporting five local experts from its city members – Calapan (Philippines), Dhaka North (Bangladesh), HELP-O (Sri Lanka),  Hetauda (Nepal), Seberang Perai (Malaysia) – to come to Delhi for the five-day training programme. During the inauguration ceremony, HUDCO Director of Corporate Planning underscored the importance of the training’s theme as cities are both the problem and solution on carbon emissions. The program featured classroom presentations, brainstorming sessions and group activities from HUDCO’s institutional partner experts. Local visits to some of Delhi’s best practices like the Waste to Wonder Park and Teri Campus enabled participants to benchmark and secure the prospect for further application in their own cities.

Collaboration between CityNet and HUDCO is highlighted by HUDCO’s role as a host to CityNet India National Chapter. CityNet is also supporting HUDCO-HSMI in its international program.
