Local Responses and Measures to COVID-19; Insights from CityNet Members

Launch of CityNet Special Publication on COVID-19

The CityNet Secretariat is glad to announce the recent launch of a Special Publication titled “Local Responses and Measures to COVID-19.” This special publication is one of many of CityNet’s outreach initiatives for its members and the global audience so they can better deal with the pandemic.

This new publication highlights successful and effective responses on COVID-19 from CityNet Members across broad aspects of local governance and city administration while also providing insights and perspectives from local authorities in Asia Pacific on the prospects for different post COVID-19 scenarios relative to sustainable urban development both at the policy and implementation level.

 

This publication was possible thanks to 10 CityNet members cities who contributed and shared their best practices and local responses to COVID-19. The ten cities featured are –

 

Best Practices and Local Responses to COVID-19 by the Seoul Metropolitan Government

 

Two Mayors from CityNet Member Cities also contributed to the publication. Makati City Mayor Abby Binay and Denpasar Mayor Rai Dharmawijaya reflect on their leadership challenge in response to the pandemic. CityNet Secretariat partner and member – Think City – offers an in-depth article on Adaptive Policy Making and the COVID-19 Crisis while the CityNet Yokohama Project Office contributed by offering insights on Business Continuity Plan.

Finally, CityNet Secretary General Vijay Jagannathan and Chief Executive Officer Geunhyeong Yim reflect as to how CityNet can turn challenges into opportunities within the context of the new normal.
