Workshop of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy Acceleration (to Support the Climate Change Mitigation Actions) Jakarta, May 2018

To participate in climate mitigation, CityNet and the Jakarta Research Council collaborate with the business sector, PT Jaya Ancol and GrEEnAcc Institute conducted a workshops on May 3rd, 2018, aiming to accelerate the implementation of Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency.

This workshop emphasized the importance of an innovative activity that begins with socialising to increase the level of community participation and awareness. The next phase of the workshop is the planning and design of a zone as green area model or prototype that applies energy efficiently and uses renewable energy.

The implementation of climate change mitigation in various sectors, especially in the energy sector from which 70% of the emission contribution comes, requires innovative action through strengthening community participation and holistic collaboration among all stakeholders; central and local government, professionals, academics, business, community, and financial institutions.

The energy efficiency and renewable energy is one of the most effective efforts in anticipating climate change. However, the reality is that the implementation is still far from the target (7% out of the 23% of renewable energy target by 2025 and 31% by 2030 in Indonesia) so that its contribution to emission reduction is still very low, especially in developing country cities.
